My first post and I'm kind of shy!....

Well I've finally started my own blog!  It's weird; I feel like a gatecrasher at a party wondering if I can sneak in and get myself a glass of wine without being too conspicuous.

Took ages to choose the name for my blog.  I think I may be taking it all a bit too seriously - I've really just started this to force myself to take a step back and reflect on the great things in my life.  I work full-time and seem to rush from one thing to the next without really taking notice of what's going on around me.  I have been learning to decorate cakes for just over a year now and I have been meaning to make a journal of my progress for a while.  So this it is.  I promise I'll be more interesting tomorrow.

  1. Hi there! Welcome to the world of blogging! I am sure you are going to really love it!

Thank you for your comment on my post! As for any tips for crochet....hummmmmm....I still consider myself a beginner! ha ha! But, Attic 24 blog has some great crochet tutorials that are photographed so are very easy to follow. Do you mind if i knit is another blog that has lovely tutorials and gorgeous pics to inspire!

Really, my only advice is to just be patient and practice the main stitches over and over in blocks until you feel confident. I find the most confusing thing is that patterns use either american or english and sometimes if they don't say it is difficult to know what you are doing! But, if you master the stitches (just make a note of the equivalents i.e an american double crochet is a uk treble) and follow a couple of simple tutorials on the blogs I mentioned you should be okay. It can be frustrating, but trust me, one day, you will find it just 'clicks' and then becomes addictive!

I too started as I loved the blankets but they were in the region of £100 and I knew If I learnt I could make them for pence!

There is also a little book called ' The Crochet Answers Book'. It is a little book that answers most questions people have about stitches, finishing off and terms used in patterns most cannot understand and I found that helpful.

    I hope all this helps!

I'd also recommend just blog hopping when you have spare time as this leads you to all kinds of crochet blogs that have great tutorials! Just saying hi to people on their posts let them find you so keep on doing that!

Have a super day...the sun is at last poking it's head through the clouds here! Yay!

I know you are going to have such a lovely time here :)
I taught myself to crochet a few years back and I can recommend a good book for this: The Happy Hooker!! I haven't looked back since and really like to crochet as a way to unwind! You will also find heaps of help from other bloggers, they're generally a kindly bunch so don't be afraid to ask!
You are very welcome to bob across to my blog, there are a few crochet tutorials on there you might like!
