Countdown to the weekend

Countdown to the weekend begins now.  Woo hoo!

Am practically body popping as I type this.  Do you ever do excited little body pops?  A lot of people I know do fast little claps when they're excited (a bit like seals/Graham Norton).  I do that too, sometimes, but my 'default' excited reaction is to body pop.  I am a big fan of expressive dance! :-)  It horrifies my stepson which, obviously, encourages me.

It has been a busy week again.  That's why I don't get round to everyone's blogs as much as I would like.   I catch up via google reader and read every post but just don't have time to comment.  This is partly because I use my iPad a lot these days (and I find commenting with an iPad soo frustrating) but mostly because my world just got crazy busy, in a 'scream if you wanna go faster' kind of way.  Except I didn't scream.

(Also, I have to admit, the word verification/spambot identifier on blogger is starting to annoy me - have they added another word to the process or is it just my bad luck?  The letters seem to be super-hard to read, too, and it can take me a couple of tries before I get it right.)

Suddenly, emails at work have trebled in number.  Demands on me have increased.  My phone has been ringing like a bonkers thing and instant messages have been popping up left, right and centre.  I've had five family birthdays in the last four weeks.  The sixth, and final, one is on Sunday (happy birthday Mum!).  I've made two birthday cakes and had lots of meals out to celebrate said birthdays.  I've also spent a fortune on birthday presents.  Our weekends have been spent running errands.

I caught up on a lot of work today - got things straight.  Admitted defeat with some things and asked for help.  There are no more birthday cakes to be decorated for a while now and we got paid (*little body pop*) so my cash flow troubles have eased.

There are so many things I want to chat about but I'll save them for another day - I think I am going to start doing a weekly round up on a Friday to capture the best, and the worst, of my week.  I'm going to try a more structured approach to blogging in the hope it forces me to carve out time to spend here.

In the meantime I'll leave you with a photo of the rocking chair I bought from a charity shop over Christmas.  I've been pimping it up (although I think it's pretty handsome here anyhow) and will do my big reveal next week!

The cable in this photo drives me potty.  Wish I'd seen it before I took the photo.  I hate untidy cables!

Let me tell you, I love this chair.  It's a big seat to fit my [ever expanding] bum comfortably.  I can pull it right up to the fire and get properly warm.  When I sit here with my sherry and my crochet by the fire I am a happy girl! :-)

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined my giveaway.  I'm so happy that I've chosen some goodies that appeal to you and really chuffed to find that I've got some new followers which means more blogs for me to read and people for me to meet!  It isn't too late to join - it closes on Sunday morning - so visit here if you fancy putting your name in the hat.  Everyone is welcome so do spread the word - there must be loads of blogs/bloggers out there who I have yet to meet.

  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with those word verification thingies.Sometimes I have to have three goes before I get it right!
I love the rocking chair and can't wait to see your 'pimping' of it.
Sounds like you need the chair, the rocking motion will be very calming
    for you. :0)

  2. Yo yo, what IS the crack with those word verification malarkies? Yes, double words, doubly hard to read. WHY???? I ask thee.....
I do body pops, Mexican waves, a bad Michael Jackson name it, when I get a little excited. I cannot help it.
Oh my, the chair rocks. Literally obviously but ooooh I love it. Dying to see what you do with it, but I'd have left it as it is.
But then, I have no vision....

    x x

  3. Word verification seems to be fairly new, at least the current version, which, as everyone has said, is much more difficult. It is, however, quite easy to disable, which I have done, and have asked several others to do as well, as I find it really, really difficult.
Love your rocking chair, and dont worry, I had to look long and hard before I noticed the cable - you know its there so it annoys you, but the chair draws the eye, and its gorgeous.
    Joy xx

    Love your cosy spot.

  9. Ooooh I always look forward to your posts....I always know the words & photos will be a delight :) Sorry to hear life has been hectic recently....that is an awful lot of birthdays and meals out!! So in love with your rocking chair....I'd love to have one & snuggle by the fire with it, crocheting away....that is simply divine! As for the wire, well I REALLY had to look hard to see it!! But I like you posted the pic is never perfect to us, but always looks perfect to those on the outside.

Hope you have a super weekend, filled with much relaxation, no birthdays and maybe a spot of shopping!!

    Love & hugs,

  10. Oh my goodness, that chair, I love it. I can't wait to see what you have done with it, I bet it looks gorgeous, but as you say it does look pretty good here already x x x x

  11. I love your room and chair; it looks really cosy. I am put off commenting because of the word verification as well. It doesn't help I an have astigmatism and need new glasses either!!

  12. No your not alone i am getting fed up and frustrated with blogger verifaction to and it is 2 words now and much more difficult to see its a right pain. Love your rocking chair and that room looks so full of old charm and warmth. Have a lovely weekend, dee x

  13. Can people not switch word verification off !! It's so annoying if your trying to comment and the bl***y thing won't take the code you think is that blurred wiggly mess!! Sorry I'm ranting but I'm like you it puts me off and half the time I give up so people don't get my comments.
I love your rocking chair, I had one when my kids were little and cried when it broke so I'm very jealous.
    Have a great weekend

  14. Ahhh your rocking chair! We used to have one like yours but my mum gave it to my auntie :( (and I can't even spot the cable you're on about so I wouldn't worry haha!) Love how it looks with the red blanket and that rather gorgeous cushion that I would like on my bed...

And omg I am with you on the word verification, so annoying!

  15. Your chair looks perfect for a nice relaxing evening! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Sounds like things have been manic, but glad to hear its all getting back on track! I really hate weeks like that!

I do a little dance when I get excited, I don't think I can bodypop! Have a great weekend! xxx

  16. ive been having major trouble with the word thingy and i like to think my eyesight is quite good! Love your rocking chair!

  17. Hi Nicki - just thought I'd drop by and introduce myself. I'm your swap partner for Jewel's tea swap. I've sent you an email - but seeing your busy schedule on this post I think it may get lost! I will be ready to send off my parcel to you this weekend so can you email me your postal address? Thanks - Linda
    ( xxx

  18. I feel so relieved that it wasn't my failing eyesight.........oooooo:) I hate verification, but it does protect blogs, just not sure what they are protected from. I don't think I have it on mine, but then I have a good blog that stops spam comments and pops them into another section where you can delete them.
Love your chair, love your room too.
    xx Sandi

  19. Word verification disabled here ... I'd done it before the switch to the new two word affair and I'm so glad I did. I want people to feel they can have a nice natter at knitsofacto without needing to jump through hoops first.

That chair is so totally like one we used to have but gave away in a move 15 years ago. I'm sure there are loads of them out there but, hey, wouldn't it be weird if you were sitting where I used to sit!

Apparently when I get really excited I do a sort of vague arm flapping thing, nothing so sophisticated as clapping!

  20. Can't stand the word verification faffing, don't have it at my gaff.

    Cosy, cosy chair! xx

  21. You found that in a charity shop? Seriously, Missus, that is one FABULOUS find!!
Can't wait to see it pimped up!

Have a great week, me lovely.
PS Sherry and crochet? Girl, you are SO me!!!!

  22. Yes yes yes, what is WITH the bloody commenting assault course? Feels like jumping through hoops sometimes!

Your house looks lovely. What a fab chair. Looking forward to the big reveal!

Off to google body popping now...
